Location
Timberidge Lodge is located just up the mountain from the charming ‘main street’ town of Sylva, North Carolina. Paved and Gravel driveway. It is only 2.5 hours from Atlanta, 3 hours from Chattanooga, 4.5 hours from Nashville, 2.75 hours from Charlotte, and close to other towns and attractions in western North Carolina.
Things to Do
Hiking
On the Timberidge property there is an easy hiking trail to Dills Creek. Additionally, there are several hiking and biking trails within 30 minutes of Sylva. Also, in nearby Cashiers and Highlands are waterfalls from 75 – 411 feet high.
Fishing
Western North Carolina is known for its trout fishing streams and rivers. The renowned Tuckaseegee River is only 15 minutes from Timberidge.
Dining & Shopping
Whether exploring the shops of Sylva, Dillsboro, Cherokee, or Waynesville, you’ll find plenty to interest you. Afterwards, you have a lot of choices for dining out from fine restaurants to early 1900s inns, to pizza and hamburgers. Because Sylva is a college town (Western Carolina University), you’ll even find Mexican and Chinese nearby!
Golf
Want a relaxing valley course with great mountain views? Or, would you prefer a challenging, “target golf” mountain course? There are four courses within 20 minutes of Timberidge and a dozen more within a hour drive.
Boating
Pontoon and ski boats are available for rent just 20 miles away on Lake Glenville – the highest lake east of the Mississippi! You can also rent a canoe or tube and enjoy an easy float trip down the Tuckaseegee from Dillsboro.
Rafting
Whether a peaceful float or a challenging class four rapid, several choices are nearby.
Skiing
The slopes are 40 minutes away. From 5,400 to 4,025 feet. The Cataloochee Ski Area in Maggie Valley and the Sapphire Valley Ski Resort are just two to choose from.
Railroads
The Great Smoky Mountain Railroad offers day trip excursions from Dillsboro, just 10 minutes from Timberidge. Fall leaf trips and romantic dinner trains are popular choices as well as family oriented trips.
Blue Ridge Parkway
The entrance to this scenic drive along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains is only 5 miles away.
